Jakarta, Capital of Indonesia


Jakarta is the number 1 in Indonesia. Located in the northwestern part of the island of Java. Other names before jakarta, namely Sunda Kelapa (before 1527), Jayakarta (1527-1619), Batavia / Batauia or Jaccatra (1619-1942), Jakarta Store Betsu Shi (1942-1945), and Djakarta (1945-1972), then became Jakarta until now.

Monas (Monumen Nasional) as an icon of Jakarta located in downtown Jakarta. Monument has a height of 132 meters was set up in memory of the people's struggle for Indonesian independence struggle against the Dutch colonial power.

This metropolitan city became the center of government, politics, business, and culture. Jakarta as the largest city in Indonesia also have the best transportation system, infrastructure, education, tourism, and the media. In addition, there are many ethnic groups residing in Jakarta, such as ethnic Javanese, Betawi, Sundanese, Tionghoa, Batak, Minangkabau, Banten, Malay, and many others.

In addition, almost every day there is traffic jam at some spot Jakarta, because of the large population and transportation. Being the main visit foreign countries, this city has two airports (Soekarno-Hatta and Halim Perdanakusuma Airport) and Tanjung Priok sea port.
